Concierge digital security for retirees

Protect what you spent a lifetime building.

I'm a tax professional. Three years ago someone got into my accounts before I understood how it happened. I rebuilt my own defenses from scratch — and now I set them up for people like you, in person, in plain English.

What actually happened to me.

Not a scare story. Just the truth, from someone who does this for a living.

I've spent my career inside other people's finances — tax returns, bookkeeping, the whole picture of what someone has built. I assumed that made me careful enough to stay safe online. I was wrong.

A password I'd reused for years turned up in a data breach that had nothing to do with me. From there, one login led to another, and I spent a stressful week locking accounts, calling banks, and untangling what had been touched. Nothing was stolen for good, but I lost a week I'll never get back, and a fair bit of sleep along with it.

Here's what struck me afterward: the fix wasn't complicated. Most of it was habits I'd never been shown — the kind of thing nobody sits you down and explains, especially if you didn't grow up with any of this. So I put together the setup I wish someone had handed me, and started offering it to my clients first.

— Jon, Legacy Vault Defense

What I set up for you

Three pieces, installed once, working every day after.

No subscriptions to manage yourself, no settings to remember. I do the setup in person or over a call, and you keep a printed copy of everything for reference.

Travel Router
Hotel & airport Wi-Fi, made safe

A small router, preconfigured and mailed to you, that sits between your laptop or phone and any hotel, airport, or coffee-shop network. Everything you send passes through an encrypted tunnel first — nobody on that public Wi-Fi can see it.

  • Arrives ready to use — no apps to install on the road
  • One button turns it on; the light tells you it's protected
  • Covers every device you bring, not just one
  • A one-page card walks you through it, kept in your travel bag
Passkey Setup
The end of passwords you can forget or lose

I move your important accounts — bank, email, Medicare, Social Security — from passwords to passkeys, which unlock with your face, fingerprint, or a PIN on a device you already own. There's nothing to type, memorize, or write on a sticky note, and nothing a stranger can steal by guessing.

  • Set up together, account by account, at your pace
  • A written record of what changed, for your files
  • Backup access planned for so you're never locked out
  • Works the same on your phone, tablet, and computer
Secure Ops
Ongoing watch, so the setup doesn't quietly decay

Every quarter, I check your accounts, your devices, and your router's firmware for anything that's slipped — and I'm a call away if you get a suspicious text, email, or phone call and want a second opinion before you respond to it.

  • Quarterly review, in person or by phone
  • Direct line for "is this real?" questions, no charge per call
  • Devices checked for overdue updates and weak settings
  • A yearly written summary of your security standing
How it works

Three visits. Nothing left half-finished.

First

A plain-English walkthrough

We hop on a call and go through what you use online: banking, email, medical portals, how you travel. No jargon, no pressure to buy anything yet.

Second

The setup itself

I configure your travel router, move your key accounts to passkeys, and tighten the settings on your phone and computer, one screen at a time, with you watching so it's never a mystery.

Third

A record, and a standing check-in

You keep a printed reference sheet of what was changed. If you've chosen Vault Watch, I check back in every quarter — and you have my direct line in between.

Packages

Set it up once. Add monitoring if you want someone watching year-round.

Who's doing this setup

Legacy Vault Defense is run by Jon, a tax professional and small-business owner working toward the Enrolled Agent credential. Before this, he spent years consulting for startups in the Bay Area, and today runs Ledger & Labor, a bookkeeping practice for tradespeople — all of it run remotely, from wherever the road leads.

Digital security became part of that work the hard way — after his own accounts were compromised, he rebuilt his defenses from the ground up and began setting the same protections up for clients who asked how he'd handled it. Legacy Vault Defense is that service, offered on its own.

Questions people ask first

Before you book

I'm not techy. Will I be able to keep this up myself?

Yes — that's the point. Passkeys unlock with your face or fingerprint, so there's nothing to remember. The travel router has one button. And if anything ever confuses you, you call me, not a help line.

What if I lose my phone? Won't I be locked out of everything?

We set up backup access as part of the passkey migration, using a second device or a printed recovery code kept somewhere safe — the same way a spare house key works. You're never one lost phone away from being locked out.

Is everything really done remotely? No in-person visit?

That's right — Jon works on the road full-time, so every setup happens over a video call. The travel router arrives by mail preconfigured, and the passkey and device work goes just as thoroughly over a screen-share as it would in your kitchen.

Is this connected to my tax preparer somehow?

Legacy Vault Defense is a separate service from tax and bookkeeping work, run by the same person. Nothing about your security setup touches your tax filings, and nothing here requires you to also be a tax client.

Let's sit down and take a look at what you've got.

A first conversation costs nothing and carries no obligation — just an honest look at where you stand today.
